Direct investments

Sweden has a major presence in Italy into the following sectors: telecommunications, steel industry, mechanical and electromechanical equipment, furniture and interior design, clothing industry and food industry. The main companies operating in Italy are (in alphabetical order): ABB (engineering), Alfa Laval (olive oil pressing), Astra Zeneca (pharmaceuticals), Atlas Copco, Electrolux, Ericsson, Ikea, Tetra Pak, Sfk, Volvo.

With regard to Italy there are about 60 companies which operate in Sweden. 70 % of them is composed by commercial branches, each one of them having less than 20 employees. Some companies established their production in Sweden by means of a production branch or through acquisition of a Swedish company. The major ones are as follows: Barilla (660 employees), Danieli (equipment for mining and steel industry, 290 employees), Faber (kitchen fittings and accessories, 195 employees), Ricchetti (ceramics, 186 employees), Structo (hydraulic pipes, 129 employees) and Lucchini (tires, 102 employees). There are also other Italian companies which operate by means of a commercial and/or distribution branch: Alessi (decorative items and design), Ansaldo (rail signalling systems), Brevini (gear units), Diesel, Emporio Armani, Ferrero, Flos (lighting and design), Gucci, Illy, Iveco, Lavazza, Luxottica (frames), Max Mara, Natuzzi (furniture), Pirelli (tyres), Replay, Safilo (frames), Salvagnini (machine tools), Tecnomagnete (magnetic systems) and Versace.
