The second edition of the Italian Sport in the World Day was also celebrated today in Stockholm in collaboration with the Swedish Olympic Committee.
On the occasion of the event and the “Olympialoppet” mini-marathon – in which a representation of the Italian Embassy staff also took part – at the historic Stockholm stadium (site of the 1912 Olympics), the public and participants crowded the Italian Embassy’s booth, which provided information and gadgets of the upcoming Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, gave the youngest participants the chance to play around the theme of Italy and also offered typical products from the regions hosting the sporting event.

In addition to awarding the winners of the competitions with the Milan-Cortina mascots, the Ambassador of Italy to Sweden, Michele Pala, was interviewed in front of the large audience that flocked to the stadium, emphasizing the importance of Sports Diplomacy as a means of dialogue and enhancement of Italian excellence and promoting the MiCo26 event not only as a competitive event but also for the discovery of all that the host territories have to offer.

“I hope to often see the Italian and Swedish flags stand together on the podiums of the award ceremonies,” concluded the Ambassador, also recalling the link between physical activity and healthy eating, which evidently are factors that contribute to Italy and Sweden sharing the recent European record in life expectancy.
