Ricerca e Sport

The Embassy of Italy in Stockholm today organized the “Italy + Sweden Sport Research Day” event at the Kth.

The initiative – which has the patronage of Coni – aims to present research results and promote collaboration between Italy and Sweden in all areas of sports, and especially in the Olympic and Paralympic sectors.
The initiative was realized with the contribution of several Swedish and Italian institutions: the Confederation of Swedish Sports, the Swedish National Sports Authority, the Royal Institute of Technology, the Swedish Research Institute, Karolinska University, the Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation, Inail, the Polytechnic University of Turin and the Polytechnic University of Milan.
The event is connected to the “Giornata dello Sport Italiano nel Mondo,” organized by the Italian Foreign Ministry to celebrate and promote Italian sports excellence and international collaboration, and brought together Italian and Swedish researchers, institutions and policy makers to promote collaboration in sports research, exploring possible joint funding opportunities.

During the event ample space is devoted to discussion especially to define possible collaboration agreements.

Ambassador Michele Pala opening the seminar at the Royal Institute of Technology highlighted how the meeting is a concrete implementation of the concept of joint sports diplomacy with research. The meeting was also a unique opportunity to promote the upcoming Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics. Accessibility and sustainability will be the guiding principles of this Olympics that will host several events in the Arena of Verona, it was explained. It will be the first Winter Olympic Games to implement a fully digital ticketing system; a paperless system to further support environmental commitments.
