A ceremony was held today at the Italian Embassy in Stockholm to mark Armed Forces Day and the anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence, Swedish military authorities, military attachés from other Embassies accredited in Sweden, representatives from the defence sector and the military industry, as well as members of the Italian community in Stockholm.
Ambassador Michele Pala, in welcoming the guests – after paying tribute to the Italian victims of the recent incident in Bosnia – emphasised the importance of military cooperation between Italy and Sweden, which has become increasingly strong since Sweden’s accession to NATO. The Defence Attaché, Colonel Salvatore La Luce, then addressed the audience, recalling the Armed Forces’ commitment abroad and the process that led to national unification.
