Pirandello 150

The Ambassador of Italy, Mario Cospito, opened the event hosted on 6 September by the Italian Cultural Institute “Lerici”, directed by Prof. Virginia Piombo, for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Luigi Pirandello. The great Italian playwright received one of the highest honors in Stockholm in 1934, the awarding of the Nobel Prize for literature. Speakers and artists who attended the evening recalled the link between Pirandello and the Scandinavian culture, highlighting the correspondences with Ibsen, Strindberg and Bergman’s work. The initiative was carried out with the Pirandello Stable Festival, directed by Prof. Mario Gaziano, a Pirandellian festival held annually in Agrigento and now at its XVI edition.
