Elections for the European Parliament – Italian votes – Information for voters temporarily living in a EU member state for work or study purposes

On the occasion of the elections for the European Parliament, which will take place in all the EU Member States between 23rd and 26th May 2019, Italian voters living temporarily in other EU Member States for work or study purposes, as well as family members living with them, can vote for the Italian representatives through the consular offices.

In order to vote it is necessary to apply by March 7th, 2019 with a formal request addressed to the Mayor of the municipality (Comune) where the applicant is registered as voter. The request must be sent to the Italian Consulate in Stockholm for the following forwarding to the competent Italian municipality.

The request must state the specific motives for which the applicant is present within the consular territory and must be accompanied by a certification signed by the employer or the institute where the applicant is studying. 

The request can also be accompanied by a substitutive declaration (according to Italian law D.P.R. 445/2000) reporting what kind of employment or studies the applicant is currently undertaking or if he/she is a cohabitant family member.

The applications must be delivered to the Consulate in Stockholm :

– by e-mail: stoccolma.elezioni@esteri.it (please attach the scanned copy of the signed request + certificate or substitutive declaration + copy of an identity document of the applicant);
– by regular mail, to the following address: Djurgårdsvägen 176, 115 21 Stockholm (please attach the scanned copy of the signed request + certificate or substitutive declaration + copy of an identity document of the applicant);
– personally, by visiting the consular offices (located in Djurgårdsvägen 176, Stockholm)

Please notice that the deadline of March 7th, 2019 is mandatory and it will not be possible to accept late applications. Applicants that fail to send the proper requests will be able to vote only in Italy (according to art. 3 comma 6 DL 408/1994), or in the EU Member State of residence, providing they are registered in AIRE.
