The second day of kick-off meeting in Stockholm for the Italian and Swedish researchers from the Si3 European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant project concluded at the Embassy. This important bilateral collaboration led by Prof. Mats Danielsson, who also recently won the KTH Innovation Award 2024 for the “development of groundbreaking medical technology enabling early detection of tumors and faster treatment of inflammatory diseases”, is a scientific partership between the Swedish Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (KTH) and the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN). The project will run for 5 years, developing new silicon-based detectors that will be tested at the Karolinska Institutet (KI) for hospital technology in oncology applications and for studying cardiovascular diseases through molecular imaging using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT).
