Ambassador Pala inaugurated the exhibition ‘Italia Geniale’ today at the Stockholm Furniture Fair (Stockholmsmässan, Älvsjö) on the occasion of the Stockholm Design Week and the Italian Design Day. Organised by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Stockholm in collaboration with the ITA-ICE Office and taking advantage of the context of one of the most visited fairs in Scandinavia, the exhibition allows a wide and qualified public to admire the genius of Italian design. The exhibition was presented by Francesco Di Lella, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Stockholm, Nadia Svaluto Moreolo, Director of the ITA office, and Francesco Zurlo, Professor of Industrial Design at the Politecnico di Milano and curator of the exhibition. The Stockholm Furniture Fair is open to the trade public until Friday 7 and to the general public on Saturday 8. Curated by Francesco Zurlo and Carlo Martino, Italia Geniale is a unique exhibition of its kind: dedicated to the icons of Italian design, Italia Geniale is created by ADI Milano (Association for Industrial Design) and promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with ITA Italian Trade Agency. The exhibition that starts from the valorization of the heritage of the brands and patents of our country, touching history, material culture and technical culture, to intertwine with the history of design. According to this criterion, the objects on display were selected, many of which are kept at the ADI Design Museum in Milan. The objects in the exhibition are divided into five thematic areas: Imagin-able: imagining, creating worlds, inventing stories and making them part of our identity; work-able: objects that are functional as well as beautiful, products, services and systems that promote working activity; relation-able: artifacts that support or activate relationships between people; Live-able: objects that have to do with physical and mental integrity, which have the theme of caring for oneself and for others at their core; Move-able: objects that promote the freedom to move and to do so in a sustainable way, with respect for oneself, others and the environment.
